It is SO hard to get okra here in northern Nevada! But, I have finally grown enough okra for one recipe, and this is my favorite. This was the first thing that I ever learned to cook. I helped my grandmother make this basic recipe when I was 4 years old. Of course I have changed it up a bit to suit my adult taste, but it is still mostly the same.
