2000 [SD] Furka-Oberalp-Bahn, from Brig to Oberwald - REOS 026 full DVD

The Brig- Furka - Disentis Bahn ran trains between Brig and Gletsch between 1914 and 1923. When the Company failed in 1923, the Furka - Oberalp Bahn was formed in 1925 by the Brig - Visp - Zermatt Bahn and the Rhatische Bahn to run the the trains. We start at the Furka - Oberalp depot at Glisergrund - just west of Brig were we see the Glaicer Express locomotive change. We then run through the streets of Naters, make a stop at Bitch and see the famous spiral at Grengiols. Our journey continues in the beautiful valley passing the villages of Lax, Fiesch, Niederwald, Reckingen and finally arrive at the west end of the Furka base tunnel at Oberwald. We see a variety of trains including He 4/4 I (the balcony locomotive) and the motor luggage cars Deh 4/4 I and II hauling local trains. We also see HGe 4/4 II locomotives hauling Glacier Express trains including locomotive number 107 in its striking black livery.
