A relative key in music is a series of notes that are enharmonically equivalent, meaning that although they have a different start and end point, the series of notes that are played are the same! Every major key has a relative minor key and every minor key has a relative major key! In the standard diatonic major scale for any key the '6' key is what will become the root of your relative minor! For example in the key of C, the notes are C-D-F-G-A-B-C that appear in the key, the A is the 6th note and its chord in the key of C is A minor. This means the relative minor of C major is A minor. So the notes in the A Minor key are A-B-C-D-E-F-G-A. Here you can see the notes are the same between both, but the start and end point (AKA the 'root') changes!
