Ruger American Gen 2 hard to close bolt fix

My bolt was very hard to close on my new Ruger American Gen 2. It worked great unloaded, but when you tried to chamber a round, it would bind up when trying to close the bolt. I found by accident that the extractor spring tension was the problem. While trying to break it in by cycling a shell through it, it didn’t extract. I pulled the bolt out and the extractor was stuck in the open position. I put a shell in and it worked perfectly, so it was not a headspace problem. Here is the before and after for the fix for this problem. After I freed the extractor, I polished the it. It helped a bit, but it was still too difficult to work the bolt, so I cut one coil out of the extractor spring, and it worked great after that. This is a Ruger American Gen 2 in 7mm-08.
