Suspect With Pregnant Woman In Vehicle, Flees The Wrong Way

On November 20, 2020 at approximately 0958 hours, I was patrolling on Virginia Avenue and Harrison Drive when l observed a vehicle fail to obey traffic control device and fail to use turning signals. l activated my emergency equipment (lights and siren) in an attempt to initiate a traffic stop. At this time the driver of the vehicle came to a complete stop before accelerating substantially in a fleeing manner. While using due regard, I followed the vehicle north on Harrison Road. The suspect made a right turn, traveling east on Eubanks Avenue, a right turn traveling south on Bachelor Street and a right turn traveling west on Cambridge Avenue. At the intersecting streets of Cambridge Avenue and Fortner Street, my patrol vehicle made contact with the suspects vehicle while attempting a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) which was unsuccessful. The suspect then made a left turn, traveling south onto Harrison Road, then a left turn traveling east onto Virginia Avenue, and a right turn traveling south on l-85. The suspect continued south on the ramp to Camp Creek Parkway when my patrol vehicle made contact with the suspects vehicle while attempting a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) which was unsuccessful. The suspect then traveled north on l-85 Southbound driving the wrong way. Using due regard, l followed the suspect with my patrol vehicle, traveling in the emergency lane to avoid traveling in lanes being occupied by oncoming traffic. The suspect traveled up the [ 85 south ramp the wrong direction before making a right turn and traveling east onto Virginia Avenue. The suspect turned left, traveling north on I-85. Approximately .5 miles south of the Cleveland Avenue exit ramp, my patrol vehicle made contact with the suspects vehicle while attempting a Precision Immobilization Technique (P.I.T.) which was unsuccessful. The suspect then traveled onto the Cleveland Avenue exit ramp before turning left and traveling west on Cleveland Avenue. The suspect turned right, traveling north on Springdale Road SW. The suspect's vehicle became disabled due to extensive body damage, resulting in the termination of pursuit at 2451 Springdale Road SW. At this time I displayed my agency issued firearm while giving firm verbal commands. l then placed the driver under arrest for fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer. The driver was taken into custody and cuffs were checked for tightness and double locked. After interviewing the subject, l obtained a first, middle, last name and date of birth showing the subject to be Edward Lee Brown Jr. out of Georgia. | transported Mr. Edward Lee Brown Jr. to Grady Medical Facility for medical evaluation. Mr. Edward Lee Brown Jr. was medically evaluated and cleared of any injury. Mr. Edward Lee Brown Jr. was transported and released to Atlanta Pre-Trial detention center correctional staff without further incident. In Pain? Call Shane!
