Full Detailed Procedure. Patient Position: Supine, head first, arms by the side Scan Range (FOV): From skull base to thoracic inlet Scan Plane: Axial (helical acquisition) Slice Thickness: 3–5 mm (recon 1–2 mm for MPR) kVp / mAs: 100–120 kVp / 150–250 mAs (adjust as per patient build) Pitch: 1–1.2 💉 Contrast Details: Contrast Type: Non-ionic iodinated contrast (e.g. Iohexol, Iopamidol) Contrast Volume: 1–1.5 ml/kg body weight (usually 80–100 ml for adults) Normal Saline Flush: 30–40 ml Injection Rate: 3–4 ml/sec (via power injector) IV Access: 18–20G cannula (antecubital vein) 🕒 Scan Timing: Arterial Phase: 25–30 seconds after contrast injection Venous Phase (Delayed): 60–70 seconds after injection ⚙️ Reconstruction: Axial, Coronal, and Sagittal reformats Soft tissue and bone algorithm FOV adjusted to include both carotid spaces 🧠 CECT Neck Imaging Tips & Tricks 1. Positioning Tip: Keep the patient’s neck slightly extended to reduce dental artifacts and improve visualization of the oropharynx and larynx. 2. Breathing Instruction: Ask the patient to breathe quietly or hold breath during scan to minimize motion artifacts. 3. Contrast Timing Tip: For vascular assessment (carotid or jugular) — use arterial phase (25–30 sec). For soft tissue lesions or lymph nodes — prefer venous phase (60–70 sec). 4. Bolus Tracking: Use ROI over the carotid artery (threshold 100 HU) for accurate arterial phase timing. 5. Artifact Reduction: Remove metallic objects, dentures, or ornaments from the neck region before scanning. 6. Saline Flush Importance: Always follow contrast with 30–40 ml normal saline flush to reduce streak artifacts and optimize enhancement. 7. Reconstruction Tip: Use 1 mm slice thickness for multiplanar and 3D reconstruction. Apply both soft tissue and bone algorithms. 8. Window Settings: Soft tissue: WL 50, WW 350 Bone: WL 300, WW 2000 9. FOV (Field of View): Include skull base, mandible, pharynx, larynx, thyroid, and upper mediastinum. 10. Check Before Scan: Verify renal function (serum creatinine / eGFR) before contrast injection. #CECTNeck #CTScan #Radiology #RadiologyLearning #RadiologyLife #RadiologyEducation #RadiologyStudent #RadiologyTech #CTTechnician #XRayTechnician #CTProtocol #ContrastCT #HeadAndNeckCT #CTImaging #DiagnosticRadiology #RadiologyIndia #MedicalImaging #Radiologist #CTNeck #CTAnatomy #RadiologyTutorial #CTProcedure #CECT #RadiologyReel #MedStudy #RadiologyNotes #RadiologyTraining #RadiologyKnowledge #AnisQureshi #YourHealthOurPriority
