TEAM FENIX is sponsored by Flight of the Phoenix Aviation Museum at Fox Stephens Field in Gilmer, Texas. Each plane in the team is flown and meticulously maintained by its owner/pilot. Team aircraft and liveries represent all branches of the Armed Forces of the United States. The aircraft are World War II-era North American Aviation T-6 Texans, a single-engined, 600hp radial engine, advanced trainer aircraft used to train pilots of the United States Army Air Forces, United States Navy, Royal Air Force and other air forces of the British Commonwealth during World War II and into the 1950s. No air show is complete without the unmistakable song of a radial engine chorus and the pure nostalgia created by vintage T-6's flying proudly in military formation above the spectators. Each plane in the team is flown and meticulously maintained by its owner/pilot.
