Tabanan, Bali. Wednesday, 2 July 2025. Alit Saputra Field is one of the public spaces where people in Tabanan usually gather, exercise, or hold flag ceremonies. Locals usually call it ‘Lapangan Dangin Carik,’ which basically means ‘the field on the east side of the rice fields’ — even though the rice fields are long gone. The renovations done by the Tabanan Regent seem to have worked — the place feels more lively now, and people in Tabanan are more motivated to exercise. Now this place has become a safe spot for all ages — kids, teenagers, adults, even the elderly. There’s one thing I don’t really like about Alit Saputra Field — the pop music that keeps playing nonstop from every corner. Maybe the government thinks playing pop songs makes people more excited to be active. But for me, the constant music ruins the natural vibe of the place — like the sound of people walking, kids shouting, or the sizzle from food vendors cooking — it all gets drowned out by the loud pop music. Then I walked west from the field, and I saw a lot of unfinished construction projects. Looks like the government’s working on building more facilities around this area. Hopefully, in the future, this city stays comfortable and livable for the people. Our mission is to document the city streets while we explore them on foot.
