Manas Pustake, MBBS, Texas Tech University Health Science Center, El Paso, TX, discusses a retrospective analysis of the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results database from 2000 to 2022 involving over 1.2 million men with prostate cancer. Advanced age, distant metastases, unmarried status, and more recent diagnosis years were associated with decreased radical prostatectomy utilization. Conversely, regional disease and higher income predicted increased surgical rates. Persistent racial and socioeconomic disparities suggest a need for targeted interventions to ensure equitable access to surgical management for localized prostate cancer.
