Luffy vs Rob Lucci, and got pretty excited about the idea of making a Gear 5 Luffy vs Lucci AMV. I also wanted to cover another league of legends song in an AMV since K/DA - VILLAIN (Lyrics) ft. Madison Beer, Kim Petras is such a good song. The VILLAIN lyrics fit the vibe of Lucci so well! I used to love KDA back in the day, their songs K/DA - POP/STARS (ft. Madison Beer, (G)I-DLE, Jaira Burns) | Music Video - League of Legends and K/DA - MORE ft. Madison Beer, (G)I-DLE, Lexie Liu, Jaira Burns, Seraphine (Official Music Video) used to be played on repeat by me all the time! :D I love making League AMVs and want more League Music based One Piece AMVs in the future! Also the song VIllain by KDA fits well with the idea that the menace that Rob Lucci embodies, which goes all the way back to the fight between Lucci and Luffy that started on Water 7 persisted not only through Enies Lobby, but until the modern day at Egghead. It makes it feel like their legendary rivalry never truly died and is still alive and well. It started with Monkey D Luffy wanting to protect Nico Robin, and now he's still fighting to protect others like Jewlery Bonnie and Sentomaru on Egghead Island. I never expected to see a Luffy vs Lucci round 2 rematch, but here we are. It's interesting since although this fight is really cool to experience in 2024 and I'm glad Rob Lucci is still here in the series, the emotional wait of the first battle at Enies Lobby in the midst of a buster call made round 1 feel like the most epic fight in One Piece for a long time. The Luffy Gear 5 vs Rob Lucci part 2 fight isn't nearly as epic in scope (despite it being very hype still!) but it feels like such a nice bookend given it shows Luffy moving past all the CP9 and CP0 business, like he's outgrown them. Lucci even says as much when he references Luffy being an Emperor of the Sea and it therefore meaning Rob Lucci needed permission from higher ups to even engage. The false gods Celestial Dragons and world government know Luffy is not only the enemy of the gods, but Suna God Nika persists through generations, even surviving the void century, and will haunt them forever. And now Nika is ready to [red] Roc their world :D Rob Lucci and his love of Dark Justice also works really well when put up against Gear 5 Luffy. There are so many villains in the One Piece world, and there's plenty of potential for a solid Villain's AMV. And Rob Lucci is an epic One Piece Villain to represent that One Piece Villains AMV. I love the callbacks in One Piece episode 1100 and One Piece episode 1101 to the past, especially the first time Luffy transformed into Joyboy. It's funny because Luffy vs Kaido felt like two Gods clashing, but now it feels like a God fighting against someone who is outmatched. It's interesting to compare this all to episode One Piece 1015 and One Piece episode 1071 and One Piece episode 1072. Like there are similarities but quite a few noticeable differences. Luffy continues to prove that he's the man Oden has been waiting for time and time again :D It's also kinda cool that Luffy gear 5 is sorta the opposite of Zoro, who is the King of Hell (although the royalty angle does feel a little weird to me sometimes because it's very much not Zoro's personality). Luffy ascends to the heavens as the Sun God while Zoro fights as Luffy's first mate from the shadows, like Silvers Rayleigh did for Gol D Roger. As much of a believer as you'd be if you saw joy boy fight in person, imagine how much more invincible he'd be with Zoro backing him up. And as always thank you for supporting Duck Piece AMV.
