Join me for a scenic VR helicopter flight in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, flying the Robinson R66 through Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For this flight, I opted for no music, just the natural sounds of the helicopter and the city below for a more immersive experience. The flight begins at SBT52 – Capitania dos Portos do Rio de Janeiro, lifting off and heading toward Santos Dumont Airport before following the shoreline along Praia do Flamengo and the Flamengo Cove. From there, we continue inland through Humaitá, then begin a steady climb to gain altitude over Santa Teresa. With more altitude, we make two smooth passes over Cristo Redentor, taking in the iconic landmark from above. The flight then opens up to wider city views as we head north toward Estádio Nilton Santos, passing over Praça Seca before turning south toward the coast at Praia da Alvorada. Following the shoreline, we trace the beach before climbing over the hills toward the Ilha area, finishing with a smooth landing and shutdown at Helicentro Guaratiba. This was a relaxed, immersive flight focused on cityscapes, landmarks, and pure helicopter flying — no commentary, no music, just the sound of the R66 and the views of Rio de Janeiro.
