This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2024 BMW X5M Competition luxury, performance SUV. Wow, 617 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque in this 2024 BMW X5 M Competition! This X5 M and the X6 M are the first BMW high performance models to debut with 48 volt technology. The X5 M has a 4.4L twin turbo V8 with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, an 8-speed automatic transmission and a variable AWD system that allows the driver to choose between maximum traction at all four wheels or an AWD sport mode for customizable performance on road. The 2024 BMW X5 M Competition power is amazing, it drives more like a sports sedan than an SUV with balanced handling, incredible acceleration, fantastic cornering and precise steering with a heavier feel. Standard features include, an M Sport exhaust system, an adaptive suspension, active M differential, M compound brakes and three drive modes, road, sport and track. This new 2024 BMW X5 M Competition has sharper exterior styling with a new front end, a black kidney grille, new Maxtrix LED headlamps, new wheel designs and exterior colours. The X5 M has a staggered 21”/22” wheel setup and summer tires. The 2024 BMW X5 M Competition interior is beautiful with a curved display, a full merino leather interior, M badging, a 14.9” touchscreen with BMW’s latest operating system 8, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, a 12.3” digital driver display and Harman Kardon sound system. We have the available Bowers & Wilkins in our test model which sounds great. There is a significant reduction in buttons and controls which some may or may not like. This 2024 BMW X5 M Competition is pricey but oh so fun, it’s starts at $142,000 CAD/$124,800 USD (MSRP). Do we really care about fuel economy with this one? 18.2L/100 km, 13 MPG city and 12.9L/100 km, 18 MPG highway.
