Following a 30 + year old lead, we're exploring one of Britain's Roman roads: The Maiden Way - or M84 by Ivan D Margary's classification. The objective: to find a rare survival from the first century AD. Will it still be there, and will we find it? Watch this to find out. The Maiden Way Roman road ran from Low Borrowbridge fort, via Kirkby Thore, over the high moorlands of the North Pennines to Epiacum Roman fort, and then on to Hadrian's Wall. The section featured in this production is on the northern side of Melmerby Fell, where the road crossed Mere Sike.
