Baba Ji's Guidance: Special Teachings on Life and Spirituality** 1. Importance of Hard Work and Patience** A brother said to Baba Ji crying: "Baba Ji, you are very kind! I have been preparing for IAS for the last five years, but have not got success till now. Now all this has become very difficult for me, and I have no courage either." Baba Ji explained: Son, not all tasks are for everyone. Sometimes we have a desire in our mind, but God has something else in mind for us. Work hard, but do not associate your sorrows and happiness with one thing. Life goes on. The brother said again: Baba Ji, but now I do not see any way out. Baba Ji replied: Son, God takes care of birds and animals too. When he protects them, will he not take care of us? Do not lose courage, son. We give up many times, but God may have something even bigger planned for us. The brother said hesitantly: "Baba Ji, I sacrificed a lot during this preparation. Baba Ji explained: "Son, Ishta can be anyone. The real thing is how we imbibe our Ishta in our life and what we learn from His teachings. We should inculcate His message in our life, and not just get entangled in His name." 4. Reality of dreams A girl asked Baba Ji: "Baba Ji, when I do Bhajan-Simran, I don't feel anything, but sometimes I feel very scared in dreams." Baba Ji replied: Son, dreams have no special significance. They only reflect the state of our mind. If good dreams come, it means that there is positivity within us. If bad dreams come, it shows the negativity within us. It is not right to consider dreams as reality. 5. Method of focusing on Bhajan-Simran A brother said: "Baba Ji, please guide us also so that our mind gets focused on Bhajan-Simran." Baba Ji replied: Son, some things are taught and some we have to learn ourselves. Just like a child learns to walk, similarly the practice of Bhajan-Simran has to be done by oneself. 6. Does the gift of Namdaan get lost if shared?** A brother asked: "Baba Ji, when we get the gift of Namdaan, if we share it with someone else, does it get lost?" Baba Ji said smilingly: Son, the gift never gets lost, but it is important to preserve it. Just like food, if digested properly, gives strength, but if it is vomited, everything goes to waste. So preserve the gift. 7. The Secret of Death and the Importance of Earning the Name An elderly Satsangi said: "The real meaning of death is not that the body is left. True liberation happens when the mind attains complete peace. One who earns the name has no fear at the end of his life. By the grace of the Lord, he goes on his path easily."
