Aadya has been carving out a space for herself in the Indian indie music scene since her debut release, Aisha, in 2023. This Gurgaon based singer-songwriter brings music to life, drawing listeners in with what mirrors their own thoughts and experiences. The true essence of Aadya’s music is honesty and soul coming alive during her live performances, where sound transforms into something greater than melody, becoming a landscape that captivates and mesmerizes. Strange New Places' came from the feeling of all my senses colliding with each other as I experienced being in a new place. It’s an important marker in my music making journey because it was the first song I wrote after 2 years of not writing anything. But working on the song for the Nyima album has given it new dimensions of meaning. I had decided that I wanted to rewrite the lyrics for the release and realised through the process that I am capable of writing with limitations - writing to a meter, a progression. It has opened up my songwriting. I also got to live what I wrote about when I played in cities I’d never been to before as part of the Strange New Places tour. I’ve been trying to write songs that lend themselves to multiple things at once and this has been special because I got to see those things come to life, not only through Kaushik Manikandan’s production but through everything that has followed.
