ACEI drugs, also known as ACE Inhibitors, are a class of medications that are sometimes used to treat cardiac conditions such as heart failure, hypertension, post MI, as well as protection of renal function in diabetic nephropathy. As the nurse (or nursing student), you'll want to be familiar with common medications in this class, side effects, what they are used to treat, the mechanism of action, and the nurse's role. Quiz: https://www.registerednursern.com/ace... Study guide: https://shop.registerednursern.com The trick to remembering this class of medications is to remember that ACE inhibitors (ACEIs) tend to end in the suffix "pril." The mechanism of action (how they work) is that they inhibit the RAAS system by preventing the conversion of antiotensin I to angiotensin II, which prevents vasoconstriction. Common side effects with ACE inhibitors can include persistent dry cough, dizziness, hypotension, increased potassium level, and angioedema. #nclex #nursing #pharmacology Join this channel to get access to perks: / @registerednursern Website: https://www.registerednursern.com/ More Videos: • Dopamine IV Drip Calculation & Nursin...
