Art Forum is an ESU Art Program event and course designed to expose students to the work of active professional artists and people working in related fields, in order to gain an understanding of their influences, thinking processes, and methods of working. For our February Art Forum is ceramic artist Ellen Kleckner. She is an artist and educator whose research-driven practice integrates community engagement, material investigation, and collaborative making. Her work combines ceramics with wood, steel, and fiber through joinery systems that emphasize tension, balance, and mutual reliance, exploring themes of comfort and connection. Deeply engaged with the field of craft, she contributes to its vitality through teaching, community-building, and arts leadership. She is a Visiting Professor of Art at Indiana University, Bloomington, and from 2016–2025 served as Executive Director of the Iowa Ceramics Center and Glass Studio. This event was on February 6, 2026 and was a part of Emporia First Friday at the Lyon County History Center. The event was from 4pm until 5pm. Please consider following us on our socials, Instagram and Facebook at ESUArtProgram .
