Linton Milano Music is proud to announce the arrival of one of the highest quality pianos to ever be placed in our piano showroom. This is a Hamburg Steinway and Sons model D concert grand piano. The model D concert grand is the finest piano built by Steinway and Sons, with a starting retail price for the Hamburg variant being $175,700; over $25,000 more than the model D built in the New York factory. So what is a Hamburg Steinway? While most are only aware of Steinway's New York factory, they have a European factory which was founded in Hamburg Germany in 1888, and have been building pianos there ever since. The cost of Hamburg Steinways are considerably more than their New York counterparts, yet many technicians, and performers alike, prefer the Hamburg line of pianos, as they are known to give an extra level of care and attention to detail to every piano that is built in their European factory. Considering Steinway is viewed by many to be the best piano manufacturer in the world, this piano is the best of the best, an example of what those in the top of the piano building world can do when money is no object, and perfection is their only goal. However, this piano's origin sets it apart, even from other Hamburg Steinway model D's, as this piano was owned by a german concert pianist named Horst Göbel. Horst Göbel was the pianist and harpsichordist for the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra for 25 years, a true master of the instrument, who recorded all of his recordings on this very same model D concert grand. In fact, the song playing in the background of this video, a Czerny piano concerto, is a recoding of him playing on this model D, with the Frankfurt Brandenburg State Orchestra. Purchasing this piano new in 1965 from the Hamburg Steinway factory, this piano was under the ownership of Horst until his passing in 2002, at which point it was placed under the ownership of his wife, a concert pianist herself, and it has been in her care ever since. While it was built in 1965, this piano looks practically new, as Horst had it completely restored in 2002 by Steinway and Sons out of the Hamburg Steinway factory. At 8'11 & 3/4" long, this piano produces a sound by which all other pianos should be compared. The bass is unsurprisingly, phenomenal, with enough power to sing over a full orchestra, and a richness that is almost addictive. The mid section is full, without becoming muddied, and the high end is pure and clear. The action, built by Renner for Steinway's Hamburg line of pianos, is so responsive you'll wonder if this piano knows where your fingers want to go before even you do, allowing one to execute even the most complex passages with ease. If you want the best of the best, something built with true craftsmanship, with a backstory fit for film, this piano is the one to get. We are currently placing this piano on sale for $70,000, and will cover the cost of delivery, as well as a complimentary move, tune, and a parts and labor warranty. Give us a visit, and try it out today. *** THIS PIANO HAS SOLD *****
