IMPORTANT UPDATE! This helmet is now made in Indonesia, not Italy. A few years ago this Italian brand went bankrupt and was purchased by the PT Tara group in 2014 who also own KYT helmets. It looks as though manufacturing of Suomy helmets moved to Indonesia in the same factories used by KYT, although possibly some parts are still made in Italy. Some riders argue this has led to a drop in quality. Please note this review was done on an Italian made helmet... do your research and see if the recent helmets are any good! Chin straps were actually falling off some of their enduro helmets for a while... this happened to me. After three years of use one day the chin strap suddenly fell off my Suomy Mr Jump when I was tightening the strap. The mount to the helmet shell had corroded away... there have been other cases of this reported too. It looks to be a very cheap grade of alloy that became very brittle as it was flaking off in my hands. We did pressure Suomy about this and they did say they upgraded the strap brackets. Until this happened this was our pick of the mid-priced hybrid helmets for adventure riding as the Suomy MX Tourer is extremely light and well ventilated dual sport helmet - great for summer riding and others seem to rate it for cold wet climates too.
