Axolotl care and maintenance.

Axolotl funny videos. #funnyaxolotl #funnyvideos #axolotl Keeping an axolotl requires specific knowledge and conditions to ensure a healthy and long life. Here are the essential aspects of axolotl care: 1. Aquarium: Size: A minimum of 40 liters (approximately 10 gallons) is needed for a single axolotl. Larger tanks are required for multiple axolotls (approximately 10 liters per axolotl). Filter: An external or internal filter with low water flow is necessary. Axolotls dislike strong currents. A sponge filter or other soft filter media is recommended to prevent their gills from being sucked in. Substrate: Smooth, dark gravel or fine sand is best. Avoid sharp stones and gravel that could damage the axolotl's delicate skin. A substrate-less setup is also possible but makes cleaning more difficult. Lighting: Axolotls don't need bright lighting. Diffused light is sufficient, but monitor the aquarium's light levels to avoid overheating the water. Decorations: A few smooth stones, driftwood, or artificial plants can be added. Avoid sharp objects and plants with sharp leaves. 2. Water: Temperature: The optimal water temperature is 16-18°C (60-64°F). Temperatures above 20°C (68°F) can be harmful. Use a thermometer for constant monitoring. Water Quality: The water must be clean and well-aerated. Regular water changes (25-50% of the volume weekly) are necessary, and water parameters should be monitored: pH: 6.5-7.5 (neutral or slightly alkaline) Ammonia and Nitrites: should be at 0 ppm Nitrates: ideally below 20 ppm Dechlorination: Tap water must be dechlorinated using special water treatment products before use. 3. Feeding: Food Type: Axolotls are carnivores. They can be fed with commercial axolotl pellets, earthworms, pieces of fish (boneless!), and (thawed) frozen shrimp. Feeding Amount: Feed axolotls 1-2 times a day, depending on size and age. Give only as much food as they can consume in 2-3 minutes. Uneaten Food: Remove any uneaten food from the tank to prevent water contamination. 4. Health: Regular Observations: Monitor the axolotl's condition for signs of illness (skin damage, color changes, loss of appetite, lethargy). Veterinarian: Consult a veterinarian specializing in reptiles and amphibians at any sign of illness. Important Warnings: Do not keep axolotls with other animals: They can become prey or harm other tank inhabitants. Do not handle axolotls unnecessarily: Human skin may contain substances harmful to them. Do not use chlorinated water: It is deadly to axolotls. Proper care will ensure your axolotl enjoys a healthy and long life. Before acquiring an axolotl, thoroughly research all aspects of their care to be prepared for this responsibility.
