(5 Aug 2014) The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is coordinating the Ebola outbreak response from its Emergency Operations Center in Atlanta. Steven Monroe, the deputy director for the CDC's National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, says they have experts from all over monitoring the outbreak. "We have different expertise that are all here in one place to try to bring their unique experience to controlling this outbreak." Monroe says what makes this outbreak different from previous outbreaks is the fact it has spread to multiple countries. "And so it has effectively become a multi-front battle to try to fight the outbreak in multiple locations across three and now four different countries including Nigeria." Monroe says they are focused on trying to identify the cases in the different countries and identify their contacts to make sure they don't travel and spread the virus to the U.S or other countries.
