England’s Lake District has been a favourite location of ours for as long as we can remember, yet we have never filmed it, so of course we had to go back and film it for you. We travelled in April when it was fairly quiet and we managed to capture some spectacular scenery during our 4 week trip. We hope you’ll tune in to our channel to see this beautiful part of the UK. We travelled to the Lake District in our Elddis motorhome, towing our little car as many of the roads in this region can be narrow and steep. Travelling this area is certainly possible with smaller motorhomes/vans but larger motorhomes would definitely present more of a challenge in some areas. In this video we stay at TroutbeckHead Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite, which we thoroughly recommend as it's a lovely site with good facilities and is featured in an earlier episode of our Lake District Series. It is from this campsite that we explore the Newlands Valley, travelling along the Newlands Pass, to the pretty village of Buttermere. The Newlands Pass, also known as Newlands Hause, is a mountain pass located on a unclassified road linking the Newlands Valley to the west of Keswick and Derwent Water, with the village of Buttermere, and it must be one of the most scenic roads in the National Park. The highest point on this pass is at an altitude of 1,093 feet (333m), and it has gradients of 1 in 4 on both sides. Buttermere Buttermere lake, famous for its beautiful setting among the northern fells and is correctly called just "Buttermere". This means "the lake by the dairy pastures", It is 1.24 miles (2 km) long, 620 yards (570m) wide and 75 feet (23m) deep. This popular lake is regularly voted as one of the country's favourite views. The area offers some of the best walking in Cumbria. There is a footpath running around the perimeter of the lake, and lovely walks to the summits of Haystacks and Red Pike. We hope you will visit our channel regularly to see more from this beautiful area - we have managed to capture some stunning scenery that we would love to share with you. We would love it if you would subscribe to our channel and hit the bell, you will then automatically be notified every time we launch a new video so you won’t miss out. Thank you for watching our videos, we hope you can experience this wonderful area for yourselves soon. More from England’s Lake District to follow...
