Business Owner Backstories was created from my belief that every business has a story — and that story deserves to be heard. So often, we see businesses only through a menu, a product, a logo, or a price tag. But behind every storefront is a real person. Someone who took a risk. Someone who bet on themselves. Someone who stayed up late wondering if they were making the right decision — and showed up the next day anyway. This series is about those people. The ones who didn’t start with a blueprint. The ones who learned as they went. The ones who built something from nothing — sometimes out of passion, sometimes out of necessity, and often out of pure faith. I truly believe that when you put a dollar next to a face and a story, it changes everything. You’re no longer supporting “a business” — you’re supporting a dream, a family, a livelihood, and years of unseen work. With Business Owner Backstories, I sit down with local business owners to talk about the side of entrepreneurship that rarely makes it online. Not just the wins, not just the growth, but the real journey — the doubts, the sacrifices, the turning points, and the moments that made them keep going. These conversations aren’t scripted. They aren’t sales pitches. They’re honest, human, and rooted in community. My goal is simple: To help people connect more deeply with the businesses they support — and to give business owners the space to be seen as people first. Because behind every “open” sign is a story worth telling. Thank you for being here, for listening, and for choosing to support real people and real businesses. — Bethany
