VERY Versatile Spring and Fall Fly Pattern!

This is an absolutely incredible spring and fall pattern that I never leave without! It works as a point fly on a dropper rig, but I mostly use it as a dropper under a dry fly. This one is made to imitate a BWO (Blue-Winged Olive) that can be found emerging almost year-round, particularly when the water temperature rises jut slightly higher on a sunny day. Apart from midges, BWOs are often the first insects you'll see coming off the water in the spring and the last in the fall. The glass bead adds just enough weight to keep it in the surface film as an emerger pattern. If you ever see what might look like rises but don't seem to be breaking the surface, tying on a small emerger to a dry fly and this will almost always do the trick! It's well worth tying a few of these up for your next trip!
