A video dedicated to Sid Vicious showing that he could indeed play some bass, despite what the media and his former bandmates has said. The issue is with people they just listen to the first piece of information they hear, spread that around and think it's true, without properly listening to these bootlegs that show some pretty good performance from both the band, and surprisingly Sid as well. Was he Glen Matlock? No, of course he wasn't. But he was still capable of playing very simple, root note driven bass lines as shown and taught by Steve Jones. He had no good technique or sense or rhythm that's for a fact, but you don't really need that for this kind of music for the root note driven bass lines. In some of these songs he does play some melodic fills and runs featured on the songs, more notably on Problems and God Save The Queen, he's even doing some of Glen Matlock's runs in God Save The Queen from the January 1977 demos before he was dismissed from the band, which is great to hear. Are these audio clips perfect? Absolutely not, Sid had his good nights and his bad nights just like how Steve did. Sid was actually decent on bass up to around November 1977, after that period that's when the drugs addiction and abuse start to become more apparent, and his playing does unfortunately fall to poorer levels, and this when it's sometimes noticeable that his amp is turned off or turned down from this point. But from March 1977 to July 1977, these gigs show his true potential that could've been like if he didn't decide to take drugs, and focused more on music.
