Shades of Green is the title track from the debut album of our Contemporary Country production, Tennessee Rain. It’s a true story about how the push and shove for more and more money can turn something so light, fun and beautiful into something darker, with the potential of burying a pure soul into sadness and the need to escape back into the arms of peaceful tranquility. Sometimes, we all need a period of healing. That is what Shades of Green is about. We give you our love, our hope and prayers that you, too, will find the peace and fulfillment that you desire and seek. Here are the full lyrics: Shades Of Green By Robin Dover [beautiful Mandolin Intro] [Verse 1] There’s so much to be thankful for… Can’t begin to unravel it all. But I know when it all began. It started with Grandma and Grandpa. [break] A new dream came to me. [Verse 2] I had to get away from it all. This cold world, it broke my heart. So that’s what I did, I got away… …in that little room I found. I was just a young boy. Peeking out that window. [Pre-Chorus] I saw Shades of Green before me… Made me love my life again. [Chorus] Can’t think of nothing better… Than this life she brought to me. Mother Nature’s been a good friend. She brought me lovely Shades of Green. From that very first beginning. Saw my Grandparents on their knees. Grandpa leaned back, he kissed that flower… And his eyes – they turned to me. [break] A magic passed between us… [Verse 3] I grew into a young man… With many lessons to be learned. I learned my lessons in the gardens. It was like Eden to me. Like I was brought to the Garden – of Eden. It set me free. [brief guitar interlude] [Verse 4] Time passed and pressures mounted. Shades of Green grew mean and dark. And soon turned into dollars… Push – push – push came to shove. One job turned to ten. Ten jobs into ten thousand. Then came my wakeup call… I had to find my love again. [Bridge] Family means so much to me. They brought me Shades of Green. Wasn’t after that green back dollar. That shade of green – too dark for me. Had to let it go. Nature’s green – just made me holler. Brought me joy – brought me love. Took me over the rainbow… Into Celestial realms on high. These Shades of Green… Brought me blessings unforeseen. [Verse 5] Walked away from the ten thousand. No more intense, darkest shades, so mean. Too many beautiful shades of green… Had been left too far behind. Nevermore. [Verse 6] Look what I’ve been given again: Forest green; apple green; the green green grass of home; Avocado green; luscious green salads; azure green skies; beautiful shades of green – have taken me home again. I am so thankful. Thank you. Oooohhhhhh You Shades of Green. Oooohhhhhh [Outro] awooooooooooo, awooooooooooo awoooooooo, awoooooooo Copyright @ Ernest Robin Dover 2025 Here is the links for the album:
