The RODE Videomic Go 2 has a loudness distortion issue. In this video I show that the Rode Videomic Go 2 distorts in audio on the Zoom F2, Zoom F3, Zoom F6, Zoom H1N and the computer. When recording on the computer, even with RODE Central enabled and with the PAD enabled and recording at the absolute lowest volume, the audio will distort - when yelling as loudly as you can! When recording on the Zoom F2 and HIGH YELLING VOLUME, the audio will clip and be unrecoverable. When recording on the Zoom H1 and HIGH YELLING VOLUME - even when the Input is set at the absolute lowest it can go, it does not clip but it will distort when shouting. When recording on the Zoom F3 and HIGH YELLING VOLUME the audio will not show as clipping but it will be distorted. When recording on the Zoom F6 and HIGH YELLING VOLUME, the audio will not show as clipping but it will be distorted. It's hard to tell what the issue is but I'm guessing it's due to the low SPL of the microphone. At an SPL of just 110 DB it would easily get overblown. But it still doesn't answer why the audio would distort with the PAD enabled. I spoke with a RODE representative and they recommended resetting the firmware, installing RODE Central and enabling the PAD. But even with those settings it still seemed to distort on my computer. Overall with this new knowledge I don't think this microphone is best suited for very loud volume recordings. But is perfectly fine for most use-cases where the microphone is being used.
