First worn by Napoleon’s fiancée, Désirée, who later became Queen of Sweden, the parure journeyed through royal dynasties and reached Denmark in 1869 through Désirée’s great-granddaughter, Princess Lovisa. Crown Princess Mary revived this legacy by wearing the rubies at her 2004 wedding, linking her to centuries of royal power and legitimacy.
