Riley and Farkle have been very open with their love for each other but they were never an official couple. They were just best friends who obviously had feelings for each other. Everyone could see their feelings for each other were real but them. Then Smackle, a family friend of Farkle's shows up and she also has feelings for him. Riley mistakes Farkle's friendship with her for feelings and tells him to date her. Farkle follows Riley's instructions although he does not love Smackle he grows to like her more. Riley tries to be happy for them but she's jealous and can't sand the fact that they're a couple. Smackle picks up on Riley's jealousy and sees that she is also in love with Farkle. She starts to flaunt him and show Riley just how much Farkle loves Smackle. She even goes so far as to call Riley desperate knowing Farkle wouldn't say anything about it. Riley feels that Farkle values his relationship with Smackle more than his friendship with her. She's crushed and confides in Maya, "You were right...when you hope for things you get smashed." Riley STILL under the impression that Farkle STILL loves Smackle she tells him that she knows she stepped back when she wanted to date Lucas so she's stepping back for him. They admitted their love for each other. Seeing Farkle and Smackle as a couple is killing Riley both Riley and Farkle imagine telling smackle that they love each other. they are remembering all their fights and all their friendship. Both Farkle and Riley are very jealous, Farkle really wants to tell everyone they are a couple but Riley says no. They kiss and remember all of their good times together.
