The Cofrin Logan Center for Addiction Research and Treatment Spring 2024 Seminar Series University of Kansas, Department of Psychology Seminar Speaker: Dr. Tory Spindle, Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Seminar Description: Dr. Spindle will discuss his past and ongoing human laboratory studies involving the controlled adminstration of cannabis/cannabinoids to healthy research volunteers. These controlled cannabis dosing studies seek to understand how factors such as route of administration (oral, vaped, smoked, topical), dose, product formulation/chemical composition profile, co-use with other substances (e.g., alcohol), and user factors (e.g., puffing topography, sex, tolerance) impacts the acute effects of cannabis. Ultimately, these studies are intended to inform regulatory and policy decisions related to cannabis, which is increasingly important given the rapid expansion of cannabis legalization.
