William Loudon M.D. of Childrens Hospital of Orange County says brain tumors are the most common solid organ tumors in young children and the most common cause of childhood death from cancer. Dr. Loudon says the symptoms of a brain tumor in a child are mild because children don't obsess with discomfort the way adults do. They include headaches intolerance to feeding some vomiting irritability and down the road more profound symptoms like difficulty walking and difficulty seeing. Dr. Loudon a Pediatric Neurosurgeon says the mainstay of treatment for brain tumors in children is surgery followed by radiation and chemotherapy.
