Fishing for European Carp - Dapto, NSW

Join me as I tangle with a couple of European carp and several pesky eels not far from my home at Dapto, NSW. This particular fishing spot on Mullet Creek has to rank as one of the most unattractive in the area however, it is the perfect place to escape from the Easter crowds! While I usually prefer to catch carp on fly, I will occasionally wander down to this spot and catch them on an unweighted hook and bread. The only downside to fishing in this manner is that the bread also attracts the eels and some of them are huge! These eels are an awful fish to handle and I will always do my best to avoid striking on them - preferring to yank the bait away and make another cast. If I do happen upon one, I will purposefully apply too much pressure on the fish (as seen here), in the hope that it will spit the hook. Fishing does not always go smoothly for me (always duck home and grab your landing net!) and I have made a conscious decision to present my videos as 'warts and all' productions - with a little humor thrown in. I hope this is refreshing. I should mention the fact that I am still getting my head around my new camera and this is definitely evident on this video. Hopefully this improves with practice.
