DFDS Seaways decided in cooperation with MAN Diesel & Turbo to have the Ro-Ro vessels HAFNIA SEAWAYS and CORONA SEAWAYS economy-upgraded at their 5-year docking and class survey. The retrofit and upgrade packages include: • Propeller blades – of the high-efficient Kappel design • Propeller fairing cone – to be fitted to propeller hub • Rudder Bulb – to be fitted to existing rudder • VFD – a Variable Frequency Drive – for shaft alternatoroperation • Alphatronic load curve – upgraded for variable frequency The video follows the retrofit and upgrade job for HAFNIA SEAWAYS – performed at Oresund Drydocks in Sweden. With full deployment of this solution - fuel savings available amount to 15-22% - corresponding to up to approx. 9 tons per day.
