Another rescue! We are going to rescue three more Belgian Draft horses from shipping to slaughter.

Episode 91 I usually don't talk about my feelings when it comes to rescuing horses but this week I have felt absolutely defeated and heartbroken! As of this morning, July 19, 2024, Bowie Texas Livestock has 4 pages of available horses (probably about 50 horses) that are scheduled to ship to slaughter. Out of those 4 pages of horses are 6 Belgian Draft horses that all came in together as a group. As much as I would like to rescue every horse on the website, we just don't have the capacity to take on all of them. However, we are going to rescue 3 of the Belgian Draft horses if we can raise the funds for their bail, transport and initial medical care. There are two geldings and a mare. These horses have been worked on a farm and all of them look to have arthritis and the saddest part is one of the geldings is only 6 years old! These animals deserve better! All three of them will be brought to our farm where they can live out their lives peaceful and will be able to live the retirement life they deserve.
