If you are wondering how to crack management consulting interviews, this video will help you. I have interviewed many candidates at McKinsey and this framework shared in the video has helped many candidates I know to crack the management consulting interviews at McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Kearney, and other consulting firms. You will be able to crack a consulting interview in 3 months if you implement the learnings from this video. There are 3 components to this. The first is industry information, the second is the specific case practice, and the last is personal interview practice. I also have shared a PDF with you and a few templates to help you crack a consulting interview. Please download this PDF for further use. As we open the PDF, you see that you can consume information for your consulting interview from 3 primary sources. The first is related to business insights and the sources are McKinsey Insights, the second is Bain Briefs, and the third one is Goldman Sachs Reports. You can read these reports and they will help you learn a lot from long-form articles talking about industry trends. This is based on their expertise in this field. When these people are creating these reports, it serves as the information on which they create the case interview questions. So, you are going straight to the source of the information from which the source questions are prepared. The second is the business news that you can get from some good newspapers. These things talk about the trends that are happening every single day. The first is the Business Standard in India and the Wall Street Journal for international business news. This is because the backlinking on both of these is pretty good. That way you will know the full story. The second source you can information from is NPR. It is the portal from where all the radio channels get their news. So, when you get information from NPR, you are directly getting it from the source. It is the closest to the absolute truth that you can find on social media. The quarterly results reports are the next source of information for you. You should read these quarterly results reports casually for at least 1 month. Because without knowing the information you cannot solve a case problem. If you have more than 5-10 years of experience in the same industry and you want to become a consultant in that industry itself then your information consumption can revolve around that industry only. But if you don’t have that kind of experience then please go for consuming information from every source you can. Slowly transition and start taking your own notes and start tracking what is happening in the whole industry. There are not many places on the internet where you can find the cost drivers or revenue drivers for various industries. The industry trends are not available everywhere and because of that, you should prepare your own notes on these topics. Once you start consuming this information and drafting it, you need to start consuming the info in a different way. Take two minutes and think about what could be the commercial real estate risks. Write for your answer and then read the article. Once you start doing this for every article, you will be able to remember a lot of information. Sharing your knowledge on LinkedIn will push you to express your thoughts. Use the above PDF for the remaining information and watch the video.
