27.5+ vs 29 On The 2021 Salsa Timberjack Hardtail MTB | Testing The Smaller Wheel Size On The CDT

The new Salsa Timberjack can be purchased as either 27.5 plus or 29er. I ended up buying the SLX 29er version, but found a great deal on a 27.5 wheelset that would work perfect with 2.8" plus tires. I also adjusted the chainstay length to the shorter 420mm length as Salsa recommends. In this video, I take my Timberjack for a first ride on the smaller, but fatter wheelset and give my impressions on how it rides. NOTE: In the video I mention that the fixed dropouts set the chainstay length to 437mm . One of my viewers (thanks Brian!) sent me the alternator plate documentation which states the sliding/singlespeed plates allow for an additional 7mm of adjustment. This means that the fixed dropout plates only have 10mm of adjustment and so in the long setting, the chainstay is actually right around 430mm in length. #27plus #29er #hardtailmtb
