Acting under the direct supervision of DCP Rohini Rajiv Ranjan and led by SHO Budh Vihar, the police team intercepted a white Swift car near Bankey Bihari Mandir, Sector-24, Rohini. The arrested gangsters include: Lallu @ Ashroo – a dreaded criminal and close associate of the Gogi Gang, injured in police firing. Irfan – a key aide of Lallu, also injured in the encounter. Nitesh – a habitual offender from Mathura, arrested on the spot. The criminals had planned to attack the residence/office of a person linked to Gau Rakshak Dal, as part of an old rivalry and to showcase their dominance. Lallu had even posted videos on Instagram to openly challenge the police and flaunt his gang connections. When the police signaled their car to stop, the accused rammed into the police vehicle and opened indiscriminate fire. The police retaliated with 6 rounds, while the accused fired 6–7 rounds. Two of the accused sustained gunshot injuries on their legs and were shifted to the hospital, while one was overpowered at the scene. Firearms were recovered from the accused, and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered. Further investigation is underway to nab the absconding associates and expose the wider nexus of the gang.
