From the well-being of our keiki to helping people enrolled in Medicaid, the state's Department of Human Services Med-QUEST Division and Policy Development Office were recently named as the state's team of the year by Governor Josh Green. They joined us recently to tell us about their work on our new show, "Working for Hawaii Unscripted." "Things that are super important, super good for the people of Hawaii, because number one is the thing that we got through was palliative care," said Medical Assistance Program Officer Edie Mayeshiro. "Palliative care is care for people who are sick for a long time, and we are the first state in the nation to have it in our Medicaid program as a service. That was really, really huge. Many states have tried to do it for a long time. We finally got it done. And so you know, if you have parents who are going through long illnesses or they're in pain, this eases their pain, and it's part of their Medicaid benefit." Join KHON2’s talent and listen in on full, uninterrupted interviews with Hawaiʻi’s most interesting people who are making an impact in our state, Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. on KHON+.
