On July 9th, the Georgia chapter of Minorities for Medical Marijuana (M4MM) hosted a truly outstanding event: the Diversity in Cannabis Experience Mixer and Ceremony. Held at the historic Russell Center, a cornerstone for entrepreneurs and business owners founded by H.J. Russell, an important figure in the civil rights movement, the event was a resounding success. Stakeholders from Trulieve, Peachtree NORML, New Era ATL, Cannabis Media Collective, and Elevated Wine and Food Festival joined us as attendees, adding to the vibrant and diverse atmosphere of the event. The ceremony was dedicated to honoring advocates, doctors, and state leaders who have demonstrated excellence and made significant impacts in the realm of cannabis. Led by Jodeci Gonzalez, COO of M4MM and founder of the luxury honey & wellness brand J.A.D.E., along with Coach Harris, M4MM GA Chapter Director and Founder of the Georgia Hemp Association, the evening highlighted the achievements of distinguished figures such as Mayor Teresa Thomas Smith, Dr. Uma, Dr. Hodge, Dr. Felecia, Ashley Scott, and Alexis Harris. Their outstanding contributions to political impact, social justice, health equity, and social impact were celebrated, shining a light on their tireless efforts and achievements. A highlight of the evening was the 15-minute fireside chat with Mayor Teresa Thomas Smith. Attendees gained valuable insights into the use of industrial hemp for sustainability in Georgia, making this session both enlightening and forward-thinking. Mayor Smith’s perspective on leveraging hemp for a more sustainable future sparked engaging conversations and inspired new ideas.
