INGREDIENTS 200 g (7 oz) flour; 30 g (1 oz) sugar; 1/3 cup warm milk; 1 egg; 1 tsp dry yeast; 2 tbsp warm water; a pinch of salt; 1 tbsp vegetable oil; ½ cup butter, room temperature. METHOD Whisk yeast with warm water, 1 tsp sugar and half of the warm milk. In a separate bowl whisk an egg with leftover milk, vegetable oil and a pinch of salt. Add yeast solution and flour. Knead the dough until smooth (around 5-7 minutes), then cover and set aside for 1 hour to rise. Cut the dough into thirds and roll each one into a thin rectangle, making sure it is almost see through. Cover the dough sheet with a third of butter, making sure to spread it into an even layer. Roll each buttered sheet of the dough into a roll, cover and set aside for 20 minutes. Cut each roll in half lengthwise and roll into a snail-shaped bun as shown on the video. Place each bun into a prepared muffin tin and bake at 190C/375F for 20-25 minutes or until golden.
