What is the Habano Festival?

The Habano Festival is the biggest event dedicated to the Cuban cigar aficionados. It is taking place every year since 1999 (with the exception of 2021 and 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic). It is organised by Habanos SA the Cuban company in charge of the distribution and marketing of the Cuban cigar brands. It is traditionally starting on the last Monday of February each year. It finishes on the following Friday with the famous Gala evening and the "Subasta", the auction of the impressive Humidors built by Cuban artisans. The last Cohiba humidor auctioned in 2020 was sold for $2 million. The proceeds of the auctions are given to the Cuban health authorities. There are 3 dinners organised on the Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A visit of the plantations in Pinar de Rio is organised on the Tuesday and a visit of the factories on the Thursday. The Habanos World Challenge is also organised during this event with the best teams are competing on the Monday morning. The final is taking place on the Friday morning and the winners are announced in the afternoon.
