Eris E4.5 is one of my favourite budget monitors, so before its smaller brother arrived for tests I hoped it will retain most of it qualities, sans the bass response. Unfortunately Eris E3.5 came with more compromises than I hoped for, mainly the midrange is less fluid, less natural and has a spike around 1.5kHz that makes it sound shouty and forward, plus it is a bit lacking in lower midrange. As expected E4.5 has better bass response, sounds fuller and more natural overall. Sound quality is not the only difference between the two, E4.5 has a bit better build quality as well, plus more tone controls to shape the sound. Overall Presonus Eris E3.5 is a good speaker for the money, one of the better actually, but if You expect it to be E4.5 for half the money than You may be disapointed like I was. I can not blame the speaker for my overblown expectations though... What do You think? Would You go for E4.5, of save 100 bucks and buy E3.5? Let me know in the comments below!
