Mal Hallett & His Orchestra – She’s A Corn-Fed Indiana Girl, Fox-Trot (Frey-Kilifeather-Olsen) with Vocal refrain: John Ryan, Perfect 1926 (USA) NOTE: Mal HALLETT (b. 1893 in Roxbury, Massachusetts – d. 1952, Boston) - American jazz violinist and bandleader. He completed education as violinist at the Boston Conservatory of Music. During 1st WW he played in France as a member of Al Moore's Orchestra. During the 1920s and for much of the 1930s he led in USA his own dance band, primarly in New England area. At various times he hired several musicians who went on to become noted for their own achievements, such as Gene Krupa or Jack Teagarden. During the swing era, Mal Hallett was considered as somewhat old fashioned bandleader, and had trouble winning over younger fans. He also battled alcoholism for much of his life. He died in 1952 in Boston. Accordingly to the title, the slideshow presents some photographs of certainly very nice USA flappers, yet not necessarily coming from Indiana and not necessarily being the participants of the beauty contest 1926.
