St. Spyridon played a central role at the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea in 325, where he defended the Orthodox faith against Arianism. His simple yet divinely inspired explanation of the Holy Trinity, demonstrated with a brick turning into fire, water, and dust, became one of the most famous moments in Church history. Throughout his life, St. Spyridon performed countless miracles—calming droughts, healing the sick, casting out demons, raising the dead, halting rising waters, and even receiving mysterious heavenly choirs during the Divine Services. His holy relics now rest on the island of Corfu, where they continue to work miracles for the faithful. His right hand is preserved in Rome.
