Come il GT 3000, monta motore FPT Iveco da 6,8 l a V, in grado di erogare 176 CV in potenza nominale, inviati alle quattro ruote grazie a una trasmissione idrostatica a due pompe (a differenza del 3000 che ne ha una sola) e motori idraulici Pocland, che gli permettono di raggiungere con la marcia da campo i 18 km/h, e su strada i 38. Con questo sistema di trazione il GT 4000, non riscontra mai gravosi problemi di trazione: da carico e con qualsiasi livello di riempimento, è sempre stabile con una perfetta ripartizione sull’anteriore e sul posteriore. La sterzata sulle quattro ruote motrici permette di girare più che discretamente in capezzagna. Le sospensioni sono idrauliche indipendenti sull’assale anteriore e pneumatiche sulla guida di sollevamento delle barre. La struttura scavallante permette alle barre di raggiungere i 3,7 m di altezza (in optional 4,1), mentre la base della macchina è a un’altezza di 2,85 m. Il serbatoio da 4.000 l è uno dei più grandi per quanto riguarda i polverizzatori semoventi ed è suddiviso in due settori da 2.000 l ciascuno per favorire il bilanciamento mantenendo il baricentro basso. La carreggiata è idraulicamente modificabile per adattarsi perfettamente a tutte le varie interfila delle diverse coltivazioni, e varia da 2,1 m a un massimo di 3. Il sistema di sterzo cambia a seconda della situazione in cui si trova il trattore scavallante: le quattro ruote sterzanti vengono utilizzate durante le manovre a fine campo, invece la sterzata sulle ruote anteriori è innestata per i trasferimenti stradali e per lavorare in mezzo alle file del mais. Procedendo a velocità sostenuta è meglio disinserire le quattro ruote sterzanti per avere una miglior stabilità. Per il riempimento della cisterna lo sprayer sfrutta una pompa autoadescante da 450 l/min; per la distribuzione è presente, invece, una pompa di irrorazione che può avere una portata di 300 o 400 l/min, per distribuire un quantitativo ettaro variabile da 160 a 500 l/ha. Le barre da 24 m di larghezza hanno chiusura orizzontale e sono dotate di manica ad aria, per evitare il più possibile l’effetto deriva. La protezione dell’operatore è fornita grazie a 4 filtri ai carboni attivi posti sopra la cabina, che permettono di crear un ambiente senza elementi nocivi alla salute. Grazie per la visione!
