LOST AND FOUND (21 minutes) is a commentary about honesty in the small, predominantly Catholic community of St. Marys, Pennsylvania, during the 1950s. It underscores the influence of a convent of over 100 Benedictine Sisters who taught students in three grade schools, a high school, and a music and art academy. In 2013, there were approximately 15 elderly nuns in the community. Reflecting the Sisters' teachings, the documentary focuses upon "Lost and Found" listings, as well as anecdotal stories in the gossip column of the local newspaper, The Daily Press. The listings and stories serve as reminders of a period when there was a strong expectation of honesty. The film's premise is that the sharp decline of the number and influence of the sisters since the 1950s may be associated with a decline in honesty among Catholics. The film suggests that instead of viewing the sisters as pious or passive women, they should be seen as a minority group of able-minded women who fostered strong beliefs about the importance of honest behavior.
