My setup is very complicated yet cleanly wired and highly functional. This video is a deep dive into how everything is interconnected with versatility and audio/video quality in mind at every step. The setup includes period-accurate display tech (4K OLED, SD CRT, and 1080p/480p plasmas) for both retro and modern game consoles with three automatic video switchers (RGB SCART, YPbPr component, and HDMI). All 19 consoles discussed are powered, routed into the RetroTINK-4K, and immediately playable on multiple displays. Two gaming PCs are also in the mix, though they are not the focus of this video. The 19 consoles are: NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, Wii U, Switch, Genesis, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, PS4 Pro, Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One X, and Analogue Pocket. In addition to discussing optimal video output choices for each console, I discuss a few noteworthy console mods. Building this setup was expensive, extraordinarily time intensive, and at many times frustrating -- but the end result is the game room of my dreams. Please let me know after watching and studying the flowchart if you have any questions at all about what went into it! One final note: With a highly interconnected setup like this, whole home surge protection in your electrical panel would probably be a good idea. Electronics & cable accessories: ➤ Velcro strips for cable management: https://amzn.to/4ph38aK (I use these extensively while working on tidying cables. The spool is very long, and you just cut the lengths you need.) ➤ Automatic "DGODRT" 8-input 1080p HDMI switch: https://amzn.to/3Ds2OlQ (As mentioned, it's not for 4K60 sources) ➤ OREI BK-104A (4K120, "8K") HDMI splitter 1x4: https://amzn.to/47i7s2T (This successfully splits any output I've tested out of the RetroTINK-4K, which can exceed HDMI 2.0 specs. It is HDCP compliant.) ➤ OREI UHDS-104 (4K60) HDMI splitter 1x4: https://amzn.to/4n1BM6g (Lower spec splitter rated up to 4K60. It is HDCP compliant.) ➤ 1' Monoprice HDMI cable: https://amzn.to/45Lquh2 (Good for very short connections between HDMI devices.) ➤ 65' Monoprice optical HDMI cable https://amzn.to/3Vy7SuF (Expensive but the exact one that connects my main gaming PC to my 4K120 OLED TV and works perfectly. Cheaper ones will certainly work for long runs from less demanding sources.) ➤ HDMI CEC blocker: https://amzn.to/47oC1UK (As mentioned a couple of times, this solves all sorts of odd CEC issues. Have it in your HDMI troubleshooting toolkit.) ➤ Automatic TOSLINK optical audio switch: https://amzn.to/3JI74Rq (I'd waited years for a product like this…) ➤ Rolls MX42 passive stereo mini mixer: https://amzn.to/4nd7U7i (Run four stereo audio sources into a single input without ever switching.) ➤ IR remote repeater: https://amzn.to/47XErd1 (As shown, I use this for my RT4K IR remote signal.) ➤ 10-outlet switch boxes used throughout my setups: https://amzn.to/4g4LJwP (Out of stock on Amazon last time I checked but available elsewhere. Avoid non-certified competitors; don't cut costs on a critical component like this!) ➤ Pioneer DJ turntable: https://amzn.to/3ODrIS3 (Sturdy and beats Technics on value!) ➤ Audio Technica phono cart & headshell: https://amzn.to/3ZEsJzB (1,000 hour stylus life, so it's actually cheaper in the long run than many rivals!) ➤ Retro Fighters wireless Dreamcast controller ("StrikerDC"): https://amzn.to/4fXudv6 (I like the translucent blue one best.) Furniture: ➤ Leather lounge chair + ottoman: https://amzn.to/4ily4Tt ➤ Rack/Stand for bulky AV equipment: https://amzn.to/43tgoQP ➤ Easel-style stand for 49-70 inch TVs up to 88 lbs.: https://amzn.to/3PlDKQn (I made modifications; do so at your own risk.) ➤ Ergohuman office chair: https://amzn.to/3Bhofp0 (A bit pricey, but the chair is durable and very high quality; it holds up. I added generic rollerblade-style casters.) ➤ Arcade-style carpet I use: https://amzn.to/3ZnFo8z (Also available in many other sizes.) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
