Ethan Hawke takes center stage in Richard Linklater’s Blue Moon, delivering a magnetic performance as Lorenz Hart that feels more like a Broadway experience than a traditional film. With so much dialogue and most of the movie set in a single location, this really plays out like a stage play on screen — similar to films like One Night in Miami or Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Linklater goes bold here, crafting a stripped-down movie that lives and dies by one actor. And thankfully, Ethan Hawke is more than up for the challenge.
