A fairly satisfying recreation of the Blade Runner opening soundscape + lame video ;). A demonstration of the vintage side of Novation Peak. The patches I made are available for free in this folder. http://skrie.danoli3.com/music/Novati... (Skrie's Patches.zip) There's also some 24bit wav files and a TLDR text file with descriptions of the patches and how to work them. The same description I pasted down here for your TLDR pleasure. Aftertouch: If your controller has no aftertouch, these patches are probably not going to work. (channel aftertouch is fine... I don't have polyphonic either. ) Reverb: Although the recordings rely heavily on reverb, these patches have little or no reverb. Mostly because I don't like recording reverb. For Reverb I used NativeInstruments Replica on all channels with various degree of mix and feedback) (For people who use it, I use the wormhole preset with various degrees of mix and feedback) If you want to use Peaks own reverb. Set it up as following to get an almost identical result. Size: 127 , ModDept: 64 , ModRate: 4 Feedback: 110 , Level: 110 Panning: In my DAW (Reaper) I used a lot of panning to create space and stereo. It's one of the saddest things lacking in the Peak... but easily fixxed after recording. Patches: NovationPeak_BladeRunnerOpening.wav : Blade1.syx: The softer saw instrument in the opening. The MOD-Matrix is setup to use Aftertouch to controll the vibrato and frequency. The ModWheel is setup in the MOD-Matrix to create the pitchbending effect. (I have a nice large smooth ModWheel... and the pitchbendingwheel is just fidgety :P ) Thunder.syx: The low Booming sounds. (Played on a pretty low octave. Added ridiculous ammounts of reverb). Growling.syx: The Howling Wind Sound. Move up and down the keyboard to let it bend and howl nicely. Blade2.syx: The Highest Lead Saw. Controlled the same way as Blade1.syx. Blade LowHorn.syx: The Lowest Lead Saw and Brassy Bassline. Controlled the same way as Blade1/Blade2.syx. Bells.syx: Those bell sounds, played on very high Octave... Not really nailed these. Need help ;) String VP330a.syx : A fair reproduction of the Roland VP330 strings Vangelis uses. Not perfect but satisfying. In my DAW (reaper) I used a stereo widener plugin(JS Stereo Width). If you don't need big chords... enable unison=2 + UniSpread=127 in the Peak. That sounds even better. BladeLove.wav : Bells4.syx : Bells played at a really high Octave. I set it up to use a lot of Sustain Pedal. String VP330a.syx : Set up same as for NovationPeak_BladeRunnerOpening.wav. BladeHorn2.syx : Just another random brassy sound that is kinda nice.
