In Generation 9, Terastallization is the new gimmick where you have the option to change a Pokemon's type! This will greatly influence competitive play because you can either choose to go for a defensive terastallization to better resist key hits and remove big weaknesses (such as x4 weaknesses) or the offensive route and double-dip into a type that you already have to deal even bigger STAB damage. Based on early ladder that was played on the private server (which is no longer available), there are some popular choices to consider to use terastallization for but it all depends on what you want the Pokemon to do in terms of its role in your team composition.
